Vonyarcvashegy Sausage Festival 2026 – Hungarian Food & Traditions

A Taste of Traditional Hungarian Village Life

The Vonyarcvashegy Sausage Festival, known locally as Kolbászoló, brings the flavours and traditions of a Hungarian village feast to the western shores of Lake Balaton.

The event celebrates the traditional disznótor, a rural custom centred around pig slaughter, meat preparation and communal cooking. Visitors can watch traditional butchering and sausage-making techniques, including a friendly sausage-making competition.

Traditional Food, Pálinka and Live Music

Throughout the day, visitors can sample Hungarian specialities such as homemade sausages (kolbász), liver and blood sausages (hurka), crispy pork cracklings (tepertő) and other freshly prepared dishes.

Traditional accordion music, concerts and evening entertainment create a lively atmosphere, making this a memorable introduction to local food culture and community traditions.
