The Human Comedy Sculpture Group

The Human Comedy sculpture group is one of the most unique man-made attractions of the Theodora Nature Trail, located near Kővágóörs on the shores of Lake Kornyi in the Káli Basin. Created by Hungarian sculptor Imre Veszprémi in 1986, the installation consists of four monumental figures made of limestone and steel. 

Standing on a small hill, the 2–3.6 metre-high sculptures resemble mysterious, almost post-apocalyptic guardians observing the surrounding landscape. Their circular placement and monumental appearance have often led visitors to compare them to a “Káli Basin Stonehenge.” The artwork is rich in symbolism: each figure can be interpreted as representing different aspects of human existence, emotions, or relationships, while together they form a powerful reflection on the complexity of human life. Set in the picturesque natural environment of the Káli Basin, the sculpture group offers not only a striking visual experience but also a unique blend of art and landscape, making it a memorable stop for hikers and visitors exploring the region.
