The Somlyó Hill Lookout Tower is located on Somlyó Hill above Alsóörs, offering a view that captivates every visitor.
It can be reached in several ways—on foot, by bicycle, or easily by car. Location Heading towards Felsőörs, about 50 metres after passing the Alsóörs sign, you will find the forest path leading up to the tower. Along the route, hikers are welcomed by a pleasant rest area with wooden benches and tables, from where only a 150-metre ascent remains to reach the lookout. A three-storey wooden tower previously stood on Somlyó Hill above the village, but it had deteriorated over the years, so the locals decided to rebuild it from the ground up. Panorama The result is a structurally and aesthetically excellent pinewood construction that blends harmoniously into the landscape. Standing on a red stone base, the 17.5-metre-high tower can be accessed after climbing a short flight of steps. From the top level of the Somlyó Hill Lookout Tower, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the eastern basin of Lake Balaton, the northern shore, and the dense forests of the Bakony.
Access For those arriving by car, free parking is available in the streets at the foot of the hill, near the Reformed church, or by the cemetery.
