Salföld Quarry Garden

Located in Salföld, one of the most beautiful villages of the Káli Basin, this former sand quarry—no longer in use—has been transformed into a unique cultural venue. 

Here, we organise events that showcase the local artistic scene and the creative industries, bringing together artists, makers and creative communities in an abandoned industrial setting embraced by nature. Our aim is to present and promote the work and values of local creators, offering visitors the opportunity to discover their craft in an inspiring environment. In the long term, the Bánya is envisioned as a monumental open-air installation, becoming home to land art projects in the coming years. Through this vision and a wide range of cultural initiatives, the project has also joined the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme. 

Art courses, concerts, applied arts demonstrations and workshops, theatre performances, literary evenings and community events will follow one another in the sandy landscape of the quarry—creating immersive experiences for both children and adults, who can actively engage with and experience art firsthand.
