The 22-metre-high Queen Gisela Lookout Tower, located on Gulya Hill in Veszprém, was inaugurated in 2016.
Constructed from galvanised steel, the tower offers a unique panoramic view over the city and the surrounding hills. Its construction took nearly four months, using 1,615 individual elements with a total weight of 51 tonnes, held together by approximately 7,500 bolts. The highest viewing level is located on the 7th floor, at a height of 17.5 metres. What makes the tower particularly special is its structure: a so-called parabolic hyperboloid form. Although it appears curved, it is actually built entirely from straight steel beams, creating a visually striking architectural effect. A wooden lookout tower once stood on the same site, but it became unsafe due to structural decay and was demolished in 2015, making way for today’s modern landmark.
