The Zalaszántó Peace Stupa is one of the largest Buddhist stupas in Europe, located on the 316-metre-high Kovácsi Hill near Zalaszántó, in the peaceful surroundings of the Human Rights Park.
Built in 1992 and consecrated in 1993 by the 14th Dalai Lama, the 30-metre-high white structure symbolizes peace, harmony, and spiritual awakening. Although the interior is not open to visitors, the stupa can be walked around following traditional Buddhist practice, while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding hills and even Lake Balaton. The site, decorated with colorful prayer flags and complemented by a nearby meditation center, offers a unique and tranquil experience for visitors seeking both cultural and natural beauty.
