One of the most unique natural attractions in the Balaton region, the Hévíz Thermal Lake and Spa (Hévízi Tófürdő) offers a truly exceptional bathing experience all year round.

It is the largest swimmable natural thermal lake in the world, continuously fed by a powerful underground spring system. The lake’s water is rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium and sulphur compounds, making it widely known for its therapeutic properties. Thanks to the constant inflow of both warm and cooler spring waters, the lake maintains a pleasant temperature throughout the year – reaching up to 36–37°C in summer and never dropping below around 24°C in winter.

What makes Hévíz truly remarkable is its natural dynamics: the water is completely renewed approximately every 72 hours, ensuring exceptional cleanliness and freshness . The lake itself spans around 4.4 hectares, with depths ranging from 2 to 38 metres, creating a unique environment suitable for both relaxation and floating in the warm water . Surrounded by a protected forest and parkland, the spa complex combines nature with wellness infrastructure. Visitors can enjoy bathing directly in the lake, relax on sun decks, or access additional wellness and therapy services within the adjacent facilities. More than just a spa, Hévíz is a distinctive natural phenomenon where health, relaxation and landscape come together – making it a must-visit highlight for anyone exploring the Balaton region.
