Fonyód Dog-friendly Beach

The Fonyód Dog-Friendly Beach is the first officially designated dog-friendly beach on Lake Balaton, opened on 1 June 2016. 

It was created to provide a safe and enjoyable space where dogs and their owners can swim and relax together by the lake. The beach is located in Fonyód, on the free-access lakeside area behind the water police station, close to the harbour. It covers a well-maintained grassy area of more than 10,000 square metres, offering plenty of space for both pets and their owners. The area is equipped with practical amenities such as shaded spots under trees, waste bins, and dedicated dog waste disposal units, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment. The gently sloping shoreline allows easy access to the water, making it ideal for dogs of all sizes. Combining a relaxed atmosphere with thoughtful infrastructure, the Fonyód Dog Beach has become a popular destination for pet owners seeking a truly shared Balaton experience.
