Festetics Castle

From the mid-18th century, the history of Keszthely became closely intertwined with that of the Festetics family. Count Kristóf I Festetics laid the foundations of the palace, which continued to evolve until the 20th century. It served as a true home, preserving treasures that can still be seen today, such as Hungary’s only fully intact aristocratic library, the Helikon Library, the palm house with exotic plants, and the carriage exhibition. The park is a protected natural area. Within the palace grounds, visitors can find the palm house and the former carriage house, which now hosts the carriage exhibition. Opposite the rear exit of the park stands a newer building housing both a hunting exhibition and a historical model railway exhibition. Near the palace, on Kastély Street, visitors can also find the Amazon House Visitor Centre.
