In 1988, our parents laid the foundations of what is today the Borbarátok Restaurant on the ancestral estate, which had originally been purchased in 1927 by our great-great-grandfather, István Fata, when he moved to Badacsonytomaj.
As a descendant of an Italian family, he inherited a deep respect for the land, the vineyard, and wine both in spirit and in his veins. Our love for people and hospitality is also a legacy from him. Our winery still bears his name today, paying tribute to his drive and guidance. In 1989, we welcomed our first guests in the cosy restaurant opened in the cellar of the current building.
RESTAURANT
Since the beginning, traditional Hungarian cuisine has defined our restaurant. Even today, classic flavours dominate, complemented by a modern twist—whether in taste, side dishes, or presentation. Local ingredients play a key role in shaping our menu, most of which are sourced from small local producers. Our selection is renewed seasonally, always introducing a few entirely new and exciting dishes.

ACCOMMODATION
The peasant-Baroque style building has been beautifully expanded over the years. Our guesthouse currently offers 9 rooms accommodating up to 22 guests. Staying true to the name “Borbarátok” (Friends of Wine), each room is named after a grape variety—such as Riesling or Rózsakő—whose wines can be tasted in the Fata Cellar. FATA WINERY Our 7.5-hectare vineyard is located on the slopes of Badacsony, Tóti Hill, and Gulács Hill. We mainly cultivate white grape varieties, but we also grow a small amount of red grapes. Our cellar, located on the original family estate, was named Fata Cellar in honour of our great-great-grandfather. Situated next to the Borbarátok Restaurant, it currently serves a dual function. On one hand, it operates as the brand shop of Fata wines, where all wines of the winery can be purchased. This is also where we hold our wine tastings. We currently offer 4- and 6-item tastings, including selected wines and cheese bites. For larger groups, customised offers are also available upon request. Opening hours:
