The palace as it can be seen today was built gradually over several decades. It only reached its final, enclosed courtyard layout a few years after Bishop Márton Padányi Bíró was consecrated in 1745, when he began to realise his grand vision of creating a residence worthy of his position. The façade, inner courtyard, and the entire complex are characterised by symmetry and harmony, while the interiors are adorned with ornate—sometimes richly elaborate yet visually striking—Baroque and Rococo elements. The café can be visited during the palace’s opening hours.
