Just as there is no trip to Tihany without a visit to the abbey, Tihany would not be the same without the Benedictines. 

They have been together for almost a thousand years. The monastery was founded by King András I - according to the first written document in Hungarian language - but the church only got its present form in the 18th century. The abbey is still a lively place with busy monks, cheerfulness and active faith.
