The Africa Museum is a unique cultural attraction located in Balatonederics on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, Hungary.
The museum was founded in 1984 by Hungarian hunter and explorer Dr. Endre Nagy, who spent many years living and working in Tanzania and collected numerous objects during his travels in Africa. The exhibition presents Nagy’s extensive collection of African ethnographic artefacts, hunting trophies, and personal belongings, giving visitors insight into African wildlife, culture, and the life of the explorer himself. Surrounding the museum building is a mini safari park, where visitors can see several African animals such as zebras, camels, ostriches, buffalo and other exotic species in an outdoor environment.
The site also offers additional attractions including African-style huts, observation points, a playground, and a souvenir shop, making it a popular destination for families and tourists exploring the Balaton region. Overall, the Africa Museum provides a distinctive experience that combines museum exhibitions, wildlife observation, and cultural exploration, bringing the atmosphere of Africa to visitors near Lake Balaton.
