Halászkert Restaurant

Halászkert Restaurant is one of the oldest and most prestigious dining venues in Balatonfüred, located in the renewed historic Reform Era district at the intersection of Route 71 and the Zákonyi Ferenc Promenade. The restaurant already gained popularity in the 1940s among lovers of fish dishes. At that time, it welcomed guests with a smaller garden area and a traditional thatched-roof building, which was later destroyed by fire in 1961. In 1963, the restaurant was rebuilt based on the designs of internationally renowned, Kossuth and Ybl Prize-winning architect Imre Makovecz. Since then, it has remained a romantic and atmospheric dining destination in Balatonfüred. Halászkert is especially proud of its wide selection of fish dishes, which are among the most sought-after items on the menu. Both in flavor and presentation, these dishes reflect the unique character of the lakeside region. Signature specialties include Balaton-style fish soup with catfish fillet and catfish stew served with cottage cheese pasta.
